MEDIA ADVISORY: Mayors to Pledge Action on Social Determinants of Health

Mayors from six cities around the world are gathered in Suzhou to lend their voice to the emerging theme of "healthy urbanization". The mayors will speak at the Symposium on Healthy Urbanization held by the WHO Centre for Health Development tomorrow on their view of making life healthier and more equitable in their cities. Mr Sergio Echeverria Garcia, San Joaquin, Chile; Dr Yan Li, Suzhou, China, (represented by Dr Fu Caiqin, Director General of Suzhou Health Bureau); Ms Mumtaz Begum, Bangalore, India; Mr Tatsuo Yada, Kobe-Hyogo, Japan; Mr Samuel Mithamo Kibue, Nakuru, Kenya and Dr Slah Ben Ahmed Balti, Ariana, Tunisia, will then formalize their agreement to engage with the Centre in a programme of action on urbanization and health in their cities.
