(Logo: http://211.154.41.99:9080/xprn/sa/20061107113358-34.jpg ) "Businesswomen have tremendous potential to become a driving force in building partnerships between the private sector and other stakeholders in promoting equitable development", says Khalid Malik, United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in China. The Forum's agenda, inspired by the substantive principles of the Millennium Declaration, focuses on a range of inter-related issues varying from the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals in China, to energy and sustainable development, corporate social responsibility, gender equality, and challenges for women in entrepreneurship. Numerous examples of public-private partnership good practices from around the world include education projects, HIV/AIDS campaigns, `green' environment initiatives to support vulnerable groups. The Forum is expected to provide an opportunity for exchanging experiences, identifying best practices, establishing new business and professional contacts to forge and build sustainable partnerships and alliances between businesses, multilateral agencies, NGOs and governments in support of the Millennium Development Goals. The Forum is organized jointly by the China Association of Women-Entrepreneurs (CAWE) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in China, in association with the United Nations Theme Group on Gender.
