HUGHES Announces New Broadband Satellite Solution Optimized for Smaller Networks
June 21, 2006

HX System Provides High QoS Utilizing Advanced Bandwidth Management Techniques
    GERMANTOWN, Md., June 21 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Hughes
Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), the world's leading provider
of broadband satellite network solutions and services, today
announced the introduction of a new broadband satellite
platform, the HX System, a cost-effective solution for
smaller networks that provides high Quality of Service
(QoS) and employs the most efficient implementation of the
DVB-S2 industry standard with Adaptive Coding and
Modulation (ACM). The HX System is also compliant with
IPoS (IP over Satellite), the first global satellite
industry standard approved by TIA in North America, and
ETSI and ITU in Europe.

The HX System utilizes advanced bandwidth management
techniques, enabling operators to provide their customers
with a high quality of service while maximizing satellite
efficiency. Optimized for smaller networks, the HX design
builds upon a solid and field-proven foundation, leveraging
many of the features and functionality of the widely
deployed Hughes broadband satellite technology -- with over
900,000 terminals shipped worldwide.

"Hughes is excited to add the new HX System to our
comprehensive portfolio of solutions, following our recently
announced HN System with DVB-S2," said Pradman Kaul,
Chairman and CEO. "The HX was designed specifically
for smaller networks with a high QoS requirement, and
without compromising on the features and functionality of
our successful HN System. We are continually advancing our
product set to deliver higher speeds and improved bandwidth
management, so that our customers -- both service providers
and their end users -- realize the highest quality and most
cost-effective solutions available in the
marketplace."

The HX System supports high uplink channel rates, up to
3.2 Mbps, enabling operators to provide bandwidth intensive
applications such as:

    * Cellular backhaul
    * Maritime
    * Upstream oil and gas exploration
    * Video conferencing

The advanced bandwidth management features of the HX
System give operators the ability to efficiently allocate
satellite bandwidth as a "virtual pool." Instead
of dedicating bandwidth to specific users, the HX System
provides an "IP cloud in the sky." If a customer
or group of terminals is not fully utilizing their allocated
bandwidth, the HX System reallocates this bandwidth to other
users, while assuring that bandwidth will be available when
needed.

The HX System has an integrated set of availability
features which yield unsurpassed network availability. The
coding and modulation of the downlink channels is
dynamically changed based on link conditions, as is the
uplink channel coding. In addition, the remote terminals
can dynamically adjust their uplink power for improved link
availability.

Study of Boston Scientific's Carotid WALLSTENT(TM) Monorail(TM) Design Shows Superior Safety Results in Stroke Prevention
June 21, 2006

    PARIS, June 21 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Boston Scientific
Corporation (NYSE: BSX) today welcomed the results of a new
study, led by Dr. Marc Bosiers of Belgium, demonstrating
that the closed cell design of Boston Scientific's Carotid
WALLSTENT(TM) Monorail(TM) provides superior clinical
outcomes compared to open cell carotid stents.(1) Closed
cell stents provide greater plaque coverage of the carotid
artery, thereby potentially reducing the risk of a delayed
embolism relative to open cell stents. The study was
presented at the 60th Annual Meeting of the Society for
Vascular Surgery on June 1st by Dr. Joseph Hart, University
of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Rochester,
New York, who helped collect the data during his Marco Polo
fellowship in Dendermonde, Belgium.

The study compares the clinical results of open versus
closed cell carotid stents in 709 patients. At 30-days post
procedure, symptomatic patients that received the closed
cell stent showed a 4.1 times reduction of stroke,
transient ischemic attacks (TIA, a major predictor of
stroke) or death -- compared to the open cell stent group.
The Carotid WALLSTENT(TM) Monorail(TM) represented more
than 70 percent of the closed cell stents used in this
study. Closed cell stents, such as Boston Scientific's
Carotid WALLSTENT(TM) Monorail(TM), have overlapping or
fully connecting struts and cover 5 to 10 times more of the
vascular wall as compared to open cell stents that have both
connecting and non-connecting struts.(2)

Dr. Marc Bosiers, AZ Sint Blasius in Dendermonde,
Belgium, Principle Investigator of the study, commented to
the Society for Vascular Surgery, "There were less
adverse events within 30 days with the closed cell stent.
The closed cell stent design offers a greater potential to
scaffold and support fractured plaque and keep material
that could embolize to the brain, or cause small clots,
from traveling through the vasculature. Closed cell stents
cover a greater percent of the vascular wall in the stented
region and have less uncovered cell area. Therefore we would
recommend them for symptomatic patients."

Dr. Bosiers also commented that, "Patients are
most at risk for stroke during the 30 days after a carotid
stenting procedure. The Carotid WALLSTENT(TM) Monorail(TM)
demonstrated fewer complications at 30-days compared to
open cell stents, likely due to its closed cell design,
which offers greater scaffolding and assists in preventing
plaque dislodgement."

The study also reported lower rates of major adverse
events within 30 days post-procedure in the patient
population treated with eccentric filters (non-central axis
design), such as Boston Scientific's FilterWire EZ(TM)
Embolic Protection System, compared to the population
treated with concentric (center axis design) embolic
protection devices. Filters are used during the carotid
artery stenting procedure to protect the patient's brain
from damage caused by plaque debris or small blood clots.

In the study, the overall combined 30-day rate of
stroke, TIA, or death for open and closed cell design
stents was 3.7 percent. The overall rates of stroke or
death at 30-days, one year and three years were 1.4
percent, 6.0 percent and 15.1 percent, and restenosis rates
were 0.2 percent, 0.9 percent and 5.6 percent, respectively.
There was no difference in rates of restenosis (re-narrowing
of a previously opened vessel) between symptomatic and
asymptomatic patients.

"These results should give physicians great
confidence when treating their patients with the Carotid
WALLSTENT(TM) Monorail(TM) and FilterWire EZ(TM) Embolic
Protection System," said Jeff Goodman, President
Boston Scientific International. "The excellent
results from this trial build on the existing clinical
evidence for using these devices to treat patients with
carotid artery disease and explain why the Carotid
WALLSTENT(TM) Monorail(TM) and FilterWire EZ(TM) maintain
the number one market share position outside the United
States."

Carotid arteries, located on either side of the neck,
are the main conduit for blood flow to the brain. When
narrowing occurs, patients are at risk for stroke -- the
third leading cause of death, and the leading cause of
disability worldwide.(3) Carotid artery stenting is a
minimally-invasive procedure in which a stent is delivered
to the site of the blockage and expanded to open the
carotid artery and restore blood flow.

Cordance and NeuStar Open the I-Names Global Registry
June 20, 2006

Universal `Digital Address' Available for Individuals and Businesses in Support of OASIS XRI Standards
    STERLING, Va., June 20 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Cordance,
the corporate administrator for the i-names global
namespace, and NeuStar, Inc. (NYSE: NSR), a leading
provider of essential communications services to the global
communications and Internet industry, announced today that
the Global Registry Service for i-names will officially
open today at 7:00 PM EDT, (23:00 GMT). Individuals and
businesses will be able to establish a "digital
address" for themselves that will help them protect
their identity and privacy, as well as provide a spam-safe
means to be contacted over the Internet. NeuStar will
operate the i-names Global Registry Service (GRS).

"Persistent identifiers as defined by OASIS, like
personal digital addresses, will become key to trusted
consumer services online," said Mark Foster, Senior
Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for NeuStar,
"They enable consumers and businesses to control their
public `digital identity.' Eventually, people will no
longer have to use vulnerable forms of contact information,
such as email addresses, telephone numbers, credit card
numbers, or social security numbers, when interacting or
conducting business over the Internet. We see the OASIS
XRI standards for i-names as an important complement to the
identity management standards at the Liberty Alliance and
our enabling identity federation services." The XRI
standards use and interoperate with the SAML 2.0 (Security
Assertion Markup Language) standard, which is a key enabler
to Liberty Alliance architecture.

Beginning today, two new i-name digital address
namespaces become available: "=name" and
"@name." Individuals may use their =name as a
privacy-protecting alternative to giving out email
addresses or telephone numbers. For example, individuals
may freely publish their =name as their public contact
point on web-pages, blogs, or business cards as a way to be
contacted by others who can also authenticate their digital
identity, thus preventing spam. Businesses, organizations
or other groups may use their @name to offer a variety of
new digital identity and trusted data exchange services.

"Using a digital address is more convenient for
consumers because they can be freely published as a simple,
safe point of reference for an individual," said Vince
Caluori, CEO of Cordance. "I-names are the easiest and
most powerful form of digital address, because they are
simpler than a website address, require no special
technology expertise, support multiple languages, and
automatically provide the identity services people will use
most."

I-names, which are based on the XRI (Extensible
Resource Identifier) specifications from OASIS, may
initially be registered in English/Latin, Chinese,
Japanese, and Korean characters. Support for additional
character sets is planned for the future. "I-names are
the first global address space designed from the ground up
to represent all languages," said Mr. Caluori.

Cordance, as the original developer of the OASIS XRI
standards, has contracted with NeuStar to operate the
i-names authoritative registry and resolution service for
global XRIs in the same way that they currently do for the
.biz and .us top level domains. Individuals and
organizations may register i-names via accredited i-brokers
and their authorized resellers. In alphabetical order, these
initially include 1id.com, 2idi, Encirca, EZiBroker,
INITECH, JanRain, and LinkSafe.

In addition to spam-safe contact service, i-brokers
will be offering two other basic i-services: single sign-on
service, which enables consumers to use their i-name and a
single, strong, secure password to log in to websites or
web-based applications; and forwarding service, which
allows individuals or businesses to create their own
simple, permanent digital addresses for web pages, blogs,
photos, videos, files, etc.

ShanghaiTex 2006 Exhibition Booths Fully Booked
June 20, 2006

Big Promotion Plan to Attract Audience
    SHANGHAI, China, June 20 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ --
Shanghai International Exhibition Co., Ltd. announced today
that ShanghaiTex 2006 exhibition booths have been almost
fully booked by both original and new exhibitors. The
preparations for the exhibition have now entered the
promotion stages where sponsors will launch many schemes to
attract target audiences.

ShanghaiTex 2006 will be held in the New International
Exhibition Center of Shanghai, located in Pudong from July
5 to 8, 2006. It will consist of 4 exhibition halls
measuring a total of 50,000 square meters. Over 600
exhibitors will come from 19 countries and regions and an
audience scale of 50,000 professional visitors is expected.
The exhibition is sponsored by the Shanghai Textile Holding
(Group) Co., CCPIT Shanghai Branch and China International
Chamber of Commerce Shanghai Branch and undertaken by the
Shanghai International Exhibition Co. Ltd., Shanghai
Textile Technology Service Exhibition Center and Adsale
Exhibition Services Ltd.

ShanghaiTex has become one of the largest and most
authoritative textile exhibitions in Asia over the past 20
years, since its initiation in 1984. In view of market
demand, the sponsors combined a series of professional
textile exhibitions, such as the Shanghai International
Clothes Industry Exhibition, Shanghai International
Knitwear Industry Exhibition and China (Shanghai)
International Textile Machinery Exhibition, into one large
professional exhibition.

Eastern China is one of the most developed areas in the
textile industry. Taking printing and dying cloth as an
example, the total national output was 36.215 billion
meters last year. Among this total figure, the output in
Zhejiang was 19.896 billion meters alone, accounting for
54.94%. Moreover, based on the statistics of China's
Customs Agencies, the total import and export value of
textile machinery was USD4.316 billion last year, with the
export value of textile machinery standing at USD871
million, increased by 30.34% annually, of which 96% was
contributed by the eastern region. Jiangsu Province led
the country with an income of RMB12.278 billion from sale
of textile machinery and a growth rate ranked among the top
five alongside other provinces such as Zhejiang and
Shandong. Therefore, with vigorous development of the
textile industry in the eastern region, ShanghaiTex 2006
will surely help showcase the latest technologies and
create business opportunities for China's textile industry.

Before the exhibition, sponsors will implement an
online pre-registration system for audiences. They can
obtain badges directly in the pre-registration area instead
of lining up to fill out forms. Those who choose the
pre-registration system, simply by logging onto
http://www.siec-ccpit.com , http://www.shanghaitex.cn or
http://www.2456.com/shanghaitex , are entitled to a free
exhibition book. If pre-registration is made before May
31, the organizer of the exhibition will even mail the
badges directly to the registering person.

The organizer is sending a trade liaison team to
related associations and large industrial groups in order
to promote and communicate policies among the exhibition
and investigate their willingness/preparations for
purchasing equipment and get their appraisal on ShanghaiTex
by various parties concerned. During the exhibition, the
sponsors will have a trade liaison office to assist
purchase of exhibits after the event comes to an end. A
press center and IPR office will be established at the
exhibition as well.

This ShanghaiTex will be divided into professional
areas upon the request of exhibitors and audience, i.e. an
area for textile and chemical fibre machinery, an area for
weaving machinery, an area for printing and dying
machinery, an area for clothes machinery, an area for
knitting machinery and an area for related spare parts,
with a view to provide specialized equipment users a more
comprehensive service.

Four seminars and five technical exchange meetings will
also be held during the exhibition. The 2006 National
Symposium on Modern Textile Technology Progress and Show of
New Products, Public Lectures on New Dying and Conditioning
Chemicals and Equipment, National Meeting on Modern Weaving
High-Tech and Air-Jet Looms, the Annual Meeting of Technical
Cooperation Network for Hydraulic Looms, and Public Lectures
on New Technology and Equipment for New Type Spinning and
the 9th Large Exchange Meeting on New Type Spinning
Technology will all be held.

Moreover, the sponsors will project a big promotion
plan including newspaper advertisements, professional
media, websites, outdoor advertisements, MP short messages,
e-mails, direct mail and telephone marketing, etc to attract
target audiences. The organizer will contact relevant
foreign associations, chambers of commerce and travel
agencies to organize foreign delegations. The organizer is
also confident that this exhibition will retain one of the
most important events for the textile industry in China and
overall Asia.

Emissions-Free Fuel-Cell Buses Debuts in Beijing
June 20, 2006

     BEIJING, June 20 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Three new
Fuel-Cell Buses hit the streets of Beijing today, bringing
emissions-free fuel-cell based public transportation to
China for the first time. After over 3,000 kilometers of
test runs and security checks, today, the buses officially
begin running their 18.2 kilometer route from the North
Gate of the Summer Palace to the Wudaokou area.

"Today marks the first public operation of
fuel-cell buses in Beijing, it is the first ever in China,
and one of the first in a developing country," said
Renaud Meyer, Deputy Resident Representative in China.
"The hydrogen refueling station, to be fully
operational this summer, will also be the first of its kind
in China," he added.

Fuel-cell vehicles hold the prospect for zero tailpipe
emissions of major air pollutants such as CO, NOx, HCs.
They will not only serve to reduce the burden on the
environment through the reduction of greenhouse gas
emissions, but will offer a new solution for dealing with
the depletion of fossil fuels.

"It is our hope that through this project, we can
build the foundation towards full-scale commercialization
of hydrogen fuel cell buses -- to promote sustainable
transport, the use of renewable energy, and cleaner
air," Meyer said.

He stressed that the Fuel-Cell Bus project also
reflects UNDP's strong emphasis on multi-stakeholder
participation and partnerships. Partners for this US$30
million initiative include the Ministry of Science and
Technology (MOST), and China International Center for
Economic and Technical Exchanges (CICETE) for providing
financial and management support; DaimlerChrysler and
Ballard for providing the Fuel-Cell Buses; BP and
Sino-Hytec for the construction of the hydrogen-refueling
station; and the Beijing Public Transportation Corporation
for setting the routes and operating the buses.

In Beijing and Shanghai, public buses are among one of
the major contributors to air pollution. This eight-year,
2-phased project attempts to lay a foundation for
addressing this problem. Phase II of the project, to start
in late-2006, will launch three additional fuel cell buses
and construct a hydrogen refueling station for
demonstration and operation in Shanghai. In Beijing, the
project will expand the hydrogen refueling station, and use
data from the operation of the three buses to support
efforts to commercialize fuel-cell technology.

    Despite considerable efforts and significant
achievements in China to combat air pollution and
greenhouse gas emissions, China continues to rank second
among the world's largest oil consuming countries. Coal
combustion and oil consumption, the two primary sources of
air pollution, constitute at least 90% of China's total
energy use. The transport sector, which relies almost
entirely on oil, is projected to account for most of
China's new demand for oil over the next 20 years. It is
predicted that by 2010, the percentage of emissions from
big cities will represent 64% of total emissions from all
cities in China.

For Nine Million Refugee Youth, A Chance to Learn and Play
June 20, 2006

UN Refugee Agency Launches Innovative Global Campaign With Corporate Partners to Help World's Refugee Youth
LONDON, June 20, World Refugee Day /Xinhua-PRNewswire/
-- Nine million faces. Nine million names. Nine million
stories. They are the world's forgotten refugee youth.
Today, an innovative global campaign is being launched to
bring them attention and a better future, a chance to
change their future through the power of education and
sport. Called ninemillion.org, the campaign aims to create
a global community dedicated to giving the world's refugee
youth the chance to learn and play.

    (Logo:
http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20060620/SFTU056LOGO )

Ninemillion.org is being launched as part of World
Refugee Day by the United Nations High Commissioner for
Refugees (UNHCR) with the support of founding campaign
partners Nike, Inc. and Microsoft, both founding members of
UNHCR's Council of Business Leaders, and Right To Play, the
Toronto-based international humanitarian organization
dedicated to using sport and play to foster the healthy
physical, social and emotional development of children in
refugee camps worldwide.

"Ninemillion.org is about giving the world's
refugee youth a chance to see beyond their current
situation and begin to rebuild their lives," said UN
High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres. "Our
greatest priority is to help refugees in crisis and to find
lasting solutions for them. Once out of harm's way, the
needs of refugees continue despite having moved off the
front pages, and those needs far exceed existing sources of
funding. All too often, the world's nine million refugee
youth become the most forgotten. They are denied their
basic rights to childhood and are left with uncertain
futures. Ninemillion.org can help refugee youth by giving
them a chance to learn and play, a chance to change their
future through education and sport."

Kicking off the ninemillion.org campaign is a 30-second
public service announcement featuring Brazilian football
star Ronaldo, a UNDP (United Nations Development Programme)
Goodwill Ambassador. The public service announcement is
available for viewing at ninemillion.org, which features
individual portraits and biographies of refugee youth from
camps in Azerbaijan, Uganda and Thailand. These are youth
who have seen their parents killed, have fled their homes
because of war, or who have been born in a refugee camp and
known nothing else. Yet despite the trauma and conflict of
their lives, and the harsh conditions of a refugee camp,
they are connected by a universal love of sport and the
desire to learn and create a better future for themselves,
their families and their communities. Ninemillion.org is
committed to giving them that chance.

In addition to raising awareness about refugee youth,
ninemillion.org is the primary way individuals can donate
money to the campaign. To kick off the fund-raising effort,
the Nike Foundation announced a matching grant for the first
US $1 million donated to ninemillion.org.

Nike, Inc. supported UNHCR by developing the overall
concept and content for ninemillion.org and enlisted key
support from other council members such as Microsoft. Nike
developed the public service announcement with Ronaldo and
other video of refugee youth in Azerbaijan, Uganda and
Thailand.

T-shirts featuring the ninemillion.org logo will be
available for purchase at select Nike retail outlets
worldwide, with net proceeds supporting the campaign.
Additionally, Nike has donated 40,000 balls, designed
specifically for durability in harsh refugee camp
conditions, to UNHCR for refugee kids. Nike also will
broaden awareness of ninemillion.org by creating a digital
presence on nike.com and nikefootball.com, and by launching
a ninemillion.org community on joga.com.

Microsoft is supporting ninemillion.org through MSN,
its online media network, by hosting and localizing the Web
site content in nine languages and providing 2.8 billion
impressions of primary advertising media worth an estimated
US $1 million, plus editorial placement and promotional
support for the campaign. MSN is featuring ninemillion.org
on local portal, Hotmail and Messenger sites in the top ten
markets in Europe and on MSN.com in the United States. In
the European markets, MSN is also featuring ninemillion.org
on MSN's popular "Road to the World Cup" channel.
In addition, Microsoft will support education projects
through donations of software to non-governmental
organization partners, as well as the provision of
curriculum and basic training content.

Two-thirds of money raised through ninemillion.org will
be distributed by UNHCR to support education in refugee
communities, including fundamental education and life
skills training; HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention; gender
sensitivity; and peace education programs for war-torn
communities. The remaining one-third will fund access to
customized sport and play programs by Right To Play for
refugee youth, with an emphasis on getting girls and young
women onto the playing field.

    Other companies supporting ninemillion.org

Earth Water International, the Canada-based bottled
water company that contributes 100 percent of its net
profits to UNHCR, will feature the ninemillion.org campaign
logo on its newly designed labels. Currently sold
throughout Canada, Earth Water will expand its distribution
to the United States later this summer and to Western Europe
and Asia in the coming year.

Manpower Inc. will support ninemillion.org through
broad internal and external outreach. The company's CEO
will invite the more than 27,000 Manpower employees across
4,400 offices in 72 countries to get involved and spread
the word in their local communities. Information on
ninemillion.org also will be available on the company's Web
site, and campaign information will be distributed to
Manpower's vast client and temporary employee/contractor
networks.

Merck & Co, Inc., in collaboration with UNHCR and
the International Council of Nurses (ICN) is delivering
nursing knowledge and related training for health workers
in refugee camps located in Tanzania and Zambia through a
program of mobile nursing libraries. The libraries will
increase access to the latest nursing and health
information to meet refugee health priorities. Merck is
also supporting ninemillion.org through its Partnership for
Giving Program, which will match employee contributions to
the campaign.

The National Basketball Association and Women's
National Basketball Association will support
ninemillion.org, through NBA Cares, the League's global
outreach initiative. The NBA will be broadcasting the
ninemillion.org public service announcement on NBA TV, and
information on ninemillion.org will also be available on
NBA.com.

Procter & Gamble also joined ninemillion.org via
its Children's Safe Drinking Water program. Procter &
Gamble will provide more than 1 million sachets of PUR
Purifier of Water for safe drinking water in refugee camps.
The company also will link to ninemillion.org from its Web
site and encourage employees to join the campaign.

A.T. Kearney to Support UAE Economic Expansion Through Regional Base at DIFC
June 19, 2006

Estimates Continued Economic Diversification Will see UAE GDP Increase 60% by 2010
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, June 19
/Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- A.T. Kearney, the leading
international management consultancy firm, today announced
it will establish a regional base at the Dubai
International Financial Centre (DIFC) to serve its growing
number of local clients and support the continued
diversification and growth of the UAE economy.

"Our client base in the MENA region has grown
exponentially over the past five years and requires not
only international experts from our mature operations in
Europe, the Americas and Asia, but also the close physical
proximity of a local office. The DIFC provides us with a
world-class location from which to grow throughout the
region," said Dr. Dirk Buchta, Managing Director of
A.T. Kearney in the UAE.

A.T. Kearney believes that UAE's GDP can increase by 60
per cent by 2010. This phenomenal growth will come through
continued economic diversification based on three key
drivers: direct investment, internationalisation and
development of new industries.

Direct investment is necessary to evolve beyond the
free zone concept and begin expanding into key industries.
TECOM Investments, the investment arm of Dubai Internet
City, and Dubai Investments Group, Dubai Holding's private
equity arm, recently developed their foreign interests by
acquiring a 35 per cent stake in Tunisia Telecom for
US$2.25 billion and a 60 per cent stake in Maltacom for
US$280 million.

The UAE has proven its ability to build and promote
national champions, such as Emirates Airlines and its
tourism industry. Continued development of local companies
through acquisition, as with Dubai Ports and its
integration of CSX and P&O, will help grow existing
domestic companies.

The UAE Government is also investing heavily in new
industries to increase participation across the value
chain. This will lead to the creation of innovative
industry clusters, such as the aerospace conglomerate Dubai
Aerospace Enterprise (DAE).

Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman, Governor of the DIFC, says that
A.T. Kearney will be able to take advantage of growing
opportunities throughout the region from its base at the
DIFC.

"A.T. Kearney recognises Dubai's potential and has
identified a growing need for expert management consulting
services. The continued expansion and diversification of
Dubai's economy provides a unique opportunity for
businesses such as A.T. Kearney to establish operations
locally and throughout the region," he said.

A.T. Kearney recently supported the feasibility study
and launch of Dubai Aerospace Enterprises. It is working
with a number of other undisclosed clients on projects that
will further the economic growth in the UAE.

"The world is watching the UAE-especially
Dubai-both with admiration for its successes and
anticipation of its next move. We believe the UAE will
serve as an example to the whole region, furthering
economic development and stability. We aim to participate
in this development by helping our clients turn their
strategies into reality," said Dr. Buchta.

Modern Beauty Announces Latest Development for Hong Kong Operation
June 19, 2006

Six More New Service Centres in FY2006/07
Online Booking Service Draws Enthusiastic Response
HONG KONG, June 19 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Modern Beauty
Salon Holdings Limited ("Modern Beauty" or
"the Company" -- HKSE stock code: 919), one of
the leading providers of comprehensive beauty and
healthcare services in Hong Kong, announced today the
latest progress of its Hong Kong expansion effort. Six
more service centres located at Tseung Kwan O, Happy
Valley, Aberdeen, Shatin, North Point and Causeway Bay are
scheduled to be opened in FY2006/07 with an aggregate
investment of up to approximately HK$15 million. This adds
the total number of service centres operated by the Company
to 24 from 18 at the beginning of the year and further
boosts the capacity of increasing the sales from the
provision of beauty and healthcare services. Likewise, the
Company's customer base continued to grow further, up from
151,000 as at 17 February 2006 to 157,000 as at 31 May
2006.

Modern Beauty's Tseung Kwan O service centre has
already been in operation, occupying a gross floor area of
20,000 square feet. The other two centres situated in
Happy Valley and Aberdeen would be opened in early July,
which would take up an aggregate gross floor area of around
5,000 square feet. In view of the trend that over half of
its customers are residing in newly-developed residential
districts, the Company has forged ahead with its plan to
add another service centre in Shatin with a gross floor
area of approximately 4,000 square feet by end-July. The
Company will also open new service centres in North Point
and Causeway Bay, which are expected to become operational
by this October. The two centres would take up a gross
floor area of approximately 12,000 square feet and 15,000
square feet respectively.

In a move to optimize the utilization of the service
centres and fully respond to customers' quest for top
quality beauty and healthcare services, the Company has
launched a "service enhancement program"
comprising a series of initiatives. Of which, the
innovative online booking system has been put into service
since the beginning of June. Apart from making bookings
via telephone, facsimile, email and in person, customers
can now pick and book their preferred services on the
Modern Beauty website directly. The online booking system
has generated an enthusiastic response since launch, and
further enhanced the Company's operational efficiency and
service quality as a whole.

Modern Beauty Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer
Joyce Tsang said, "We would spare no effort to expand
our service network to serve the needs of our customers
residing in different areas. BY the end of FY2006/07, six
more service centres would be added to our network, which
would further extend our reach to more residential
districts in Hong Kong. Our recent launch of brandnew
online booking system has also started to reap fruit. The
encouraging response drawn has helped lift the centre
utilization and operational efficiency of the Company in a
significant way."

Looking ahead, Modern Beauty would continue with its
network expansion plan and look into ways to perfect the
operation in terms of service quality and centre
management. More initiatives would be kicked off to
enhance its services with an aim to consolidating and
further strengthening its competitive advantages in the
beauty and healthcare services industry in Hong Kong.
Lately, the Company has appointed celebrities including
Miss Gloria Yip, Miss Gia Lam, Mr Timmy Hung and Mr Samuel
Pang as new spokespersons for the Hong Kong operation. The
search for more spokespersons with positive and healthy
images would go on to bring its brands and businesses to a
wide spectrum of customers.

Interface has launched a rebranding initiative to unite all
its companies worldwide under one masterbrand -- Interface.
The company will use "Mission Zero" to describe
the brand promise for which the Interface companies have
become known over the past 12 years.

This new initiative will allow Interface to streamline

different businesses globally. The launch will involve a
new graphic identity for the majority of Interface

have a new name -- InterfaceFLOR.

"Our new branding is designed to help Interface
stake its lead in two areas; the modular carpet category as

Pacific.

"Mission Zero is the message that connects all
our products with the brand Interface. It is a new

Coombs.

The use of InterfaceFLOR for our core modular carpet
business creates an alignment across the globe with the
company's commercial and residential business identity
united under one brand. "FLOR" aptly describes
the business Interface is in and, historically, FLOR harks
back to one of the company's original products, FLOR S.

"I think this new initiative will help
InterfaceFLOR stay ahead in many ways, helping our internal
focus and external communication," adds Coombs.

Almost a Quarter of All Disease Caused by Environmental Exposure
June 16, 2006

    GENEVA, JUNE 16 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- As much as 24%
of global disease is caused by environmental exposures
which can be averted. Well-targeted interventions can
prevent much of this environmental risk, the World Health
Organization (WHO) demonstrates in a report issued today.
The report further estimates that more than 33% of disease
in children under the age of 5 is caused by environmental
exposures. Preventing environmental risk could save as many
as four million lives a year, mostly in developing
countries.

    (Logo:
http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20040610/CNTH001LOGO )

The report, Preventing disease through healthy
environments -- towards an estimate of the environmental
burden of disease, is the most comprehensive and systematic
study yet undertaken on how preventable environmental
hazards contribute to a wide range of diseases and
injuries. By focusing on the environmental causes of
disease, and how various diseases are influenced by
environmental factors, the analysis breaks new ground in
understanding the interactions between environment and
health. The estimate reflects how much death, illness and
disability could be realistically avoided every year as a
result of better environmental management.

"The report issued today is a major contribution
to ongoing efforts to better define the links between
environment and health," said Dr Anders Nordstrom,
Acting WHO Director-General. "We have always known
that the environment influences health very profoundly, but
these estimates are the best to date. This will help us to
demonstrate that wise investment to create a supportive
environment can be a successful strategy in improving
health and achieving development that is sustainable."

The report estimates that more than 13 million deaths
annually are due to preventable environmental causes.
Nearly one third of death and disease in the least
developed regions is due to environmental causes. Over 40%
of deaths from malaria and an estimated 94% of deaths from
diarrhoeal diseases, two of the world's biggest childhood
killers, could be prevented through better environmental
management.

The four main diseases influenced by poor environments
are diarrhoea, lower respiratory infections, various forms
of unintentional injuries, and malaria. Measures which
could be taken now to reduce this environmental disease
burden include the promotion of safe household water
storage and better hygienic measures; the use of cleaner
and safer fuels; increased safety of the built environment,
more judicious use and management of toxic substances in the
home and workplace; better water resource management.

"For the first time, this new report shows how
specific diseases and injuries are influenced by
environmental risks and by how much," said Dr Maria
Neira, Director of WHO's Department for Public Health and
Environment. "It also shows very clearly the gains
that would accrue both to public health and to the general
environment by a series of straightforward, coordinated
investments. We call on ministries of health, environment
and other partners to work together to ensure that these
environmental and public health gains become a
reality."

This research, which involved systematic review of
literature as well as surveys of over 100 experts
worldwide, identifies specific diseases impacted by certain
well-known environmental hazards -- and by how much.
"It brings together the best evidence available today
on environmental links to health in 85 categories of
disease and injury. Since the research focuses strictly on
environmental hazards that are amenable to change, we can
also see where preventive health measures combined with
better environmental management and cleanup can have the
biggest impact. In effect, we now have a `hit list' for
problems we need to tackle most urgently in terms of health
and the environment," noted Dr Neira.

Diseases with the largest total annual health burden
from environmental factors, in terms of death, illness and
disability or Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs)1 are:

-- Diarrhoea (58 million DALYS per year; 94% of the
diarrhoeal burden of
disease) largely from unsafe water, sanitation and
hygiene

-- Lower respiratory infections (37 million DALYs per
year; 41% of all
cases globally) largely from air pollution, indoor
and outdoor.

-- Unintentional injuries other than road traffic
injuries (21 million
DALYs per year; 44 % of all cases globally),
classification which
includes a wide range of industrial and workplace
accidents.

-- Malaria (19 million DALYs per year; 42% of all cases
globally), largely
as a result of poor water resource, housing and land
use management
which fails to curb vector populations effectively.

    -- Road traffic injuries (15 million DALYS per year;
40% of all cases
globally), largely as a result of poor urban design
or poor
       environmental design of transport systems.

-- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease (COPD) -- a
slowly progressing
disease characterized by a gradual loss of lung
function. (COPD, 12
million DALYs per year; 42% of all cases globally)
largely as a result
of exposures to workplace dusts and fumes and other
forms of indoor and
       outdoor air pollution.

-- Perinatal conditions (11 million DALYS per year; 11%
of all cases
       globally).

Most of the same environmentally-triggered diseases
also rank as the biggest killers outright -- although they
rank somewhat differently in order of lethality. Diseases
with the largest absolute number of deaths annually from
modifiable environmental factors (these are all parts of
the environment amenable to change using available
technologies, policies, preventive and public health
measure). These diseases include:

-- 2.6 million deaths annually from cardiovascular
diseases

-- 1.7 million deaths annually from diarrhoeal
diseases

-- 1.5 million deaths annually from lower respiratory
infections

-- 1.4 million deaths annually from cancers

-- 1.3 million deaths annually from chronic obstructive
Pulmonary disease

-- 470,000 deaths annually from road traffic crashes

-- 400,000 deaths annually from unintentional injuries

The report shows that one way or another, the
environment significantly affects more than 80% of these
major diseases. Moreover, it looks to quantify only those
environmental hazards that are modifiable - that is, those
that are readily amenable to change through policies or
technologies that already exist. The report also spells out
us how much environment-related disease is preventable.

By acting assertively and setting priorities for
measures aimed at curbing the most serious killers,
millions of unnecessary deaths can be prevented every year.
Working with sectors such as energy, transport, agriculture
and industry to ameliorate the root environmental causes of
ill health is crucial.

1 DALYs = Disability Adjusted Life Years: The sum of
years of potential life lost due to premature mortality and
the years of productive life lost due to disability.

Innovative Technology for Treatment of Renal Anaemia Unveiled Today
June 16, 2006

-- First Human Cell Line-Derived Erythropoietin Research Reported
-- Abstract Numbers: 562 and 576
    BASINGSTOKE, England, June 16 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ --
Effective treatment of anaemia in patients suffering from
chronic kidney disease (CKD)(i) is possible with the first
erythropoietin product produced in a human cell line.(1)

DYNEPO(R) (epoetin delta), developed using innovative
gene activation technology in a human cell line, corrects
and maintains haemoglobin levels in patients suffering from
anaemia and CKD who are on dialysis, according to the
results of a study presented for the first time today at
the 11th Congress of the European Hematology Association
(EHA).(1)

A second study, also presented for the first time
today, highlighted a key difference between DYNEPO and
other erythropoietin treatments -- an unquantifiably low
amount of a specific carbohydrate residue compared to those
treatments produced in Chinese Hamster Ovary cell lines.
This carbohydrate residue is known to produce immune
responses in humans.(2,3)

Potential differences in immunogenicity between DYNEPO
and other erythropoietin treatments have not been
investigated in clinical practice.

Dr Iain MacDougall, Consultant Nephrologist and
Honorary Senior Lecturer from the Renal Unit in King's
College Hospital, London commented, "There is a
pressing need for further research into the differences
between DYNEPO and conventional erythropoietin treatments
that are not produced in human cell lines. It will be
fascinating to see whether these differences will
ultimately translate into specific benefits for patients
with CKD who are suffering from anaemia."

By stimulating red blood cell production in the bone
marrow, DYNEPO performs the same role as naturally
occurring human erythropoietin. The prevalence of anaemia
in patients with CKD rises as kidney function Declines(4)
and in Europe, the prevalence of end stage renal disease is
estimated at 225,000, growing at 6 per cent per annum, with
more than 80 per cent of these patients on dialysis.(5)

Dr Raymond Pratt, Vice President Global Medical
Affairs, Shire, added, "Shire is proud to be involved
in products produced by this ground-breaking gene
activation technology. We are committed to bringing
innovative products, like DYNEPO, to market to meet
patients' needs. DYNEPO will be another addition to our
renal therapeutics area, focusing on patients with anaemia
and CKD."

The primary cause of anaemia in CKD is a deficiency in
erythropoietin, a protein produced by the kidneys
responsible for red blood cell production.(6)

As renal function declines, so does the capacity for
producing erythropoietin and consequently red blood cells.
Additionally, anaemia in patients with CKD may be
aggravated by a loss of red blood cells during
haemodialysis.
Consequences can be serious with increased risk of
cardiovascular disease, the main cause of death amongst
dialysis patients, along with a major impact on the quality
of life through fatigue and a reduction in life-expectancy
due to cardiovascular complications.

    ABOUT DYNEPO

If the kidney starts to fail, patients require an
increase in erythropoietin from a treatment such as DYNEPO
in order to increase red blood cell production. Red blood
cells (erythrocytes) contain haemoglobin and are vital for
oxygen transportation around the body. Erythropoietin is
produced in the kidneys and stimulates the bone marrow to
produce more red blood cells by promoting the development
of stem cells into mature red blood cells. These cells are
then released into the blood stream. DYNEPO works in
exactly the same way.

Microsoft Announces Plans for July 2008 Transition for Bill Gates
June 16, 2006

-- Working full time at Microsoft through June 2008,
Gates then will
continue as chairman and advisor while increasing
Foundation efforts;
Ray Ozzie and Craig Mundie to assume expanded roles.

    REDMOND, Wash., June 16 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ --
Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) today announced that
effective July 2008 Bill Gates, chairman, will transition
out of a day-to-day role in the company to spend more time
on his global health and education work at the Bill &
Melinda Gates Foundation. The company announced a two-year
transition process to ensure that there is a smooth and
orderly transfer of Gates' daily responsibilities, and said
that after July 2008 Gates would continue to serve as the
company's chairman and an advisor on key development
projects.

    (Logo:
http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20000822/MSFTLOGO )

The company announced that Chief Technical Officer Ray
Ozzie will immediately assume the title of chief software
architect and begin working side by side with Gates on all
technical architecture and product oversight
responsibilities, to ensure a smooth transition. Similarly,
Chief Technical Officer Craig Mundie will immediately take
the new title of chief research and strategy officer and
will work closely with Gates to assume his responsibility
for the company's research and incubation efforts; Mundie
also will partner with general counsel Brad Smith to guide
Microsoft's intellectual property and technology policy
efforts.

"Our business and technical leadership has never
been stronger, and Microsoft is well-positioned for success
in the years ahead. I feel very fortunate to have such great
technical leaders like Ray and Craig at the company,"
Gates said. "I remain fully committed and full time at
Microsoft through June 2008 and will be working side by side
with Ray and Craig to ensure that a smooth transition
occurs."

"This was a hard decision for me," Gates
added. "I'm very lucky to have two passions that I
feel are so important and so challenging. As I prepare for
this change, I firmly believe the road ahead for Microsoft
is as bright as ever."

In September 2005 Microsoft Chief Executive Officer
Steve Ballmer organized the company into three divisions
under presidents Jim Allchin, Kevin Johnson, Robbie Bach
and Jeff Raikes, who were given much greater responsibility
for product development and strategy decisions within their
respective businesses. In August 2005 the company appointed
Kevin Turner as chief operating officer.

"Bill and I are confident we've got a great team
that can step up to fill his shoes and drive Microsoft
innovation forward without missing a beat," Ballmer
said. "We will continue to hire the world's best
technical talent and give them the tools to do their best
work, and we will continue to tackle the biggest challenges
and opportunities for our customers by investing for the
long term."

Ballmer and Gates noted that Microsoft has been
steadily expanding its senior leadership in recent years,
and that today's announcement continues a transition
process that has been underway for several years. In
January 2000, Gates assumed the role of chief software
architect and Ballmer assumed the role of CEO, responsible
for all day-to-day operations and company business
strategy.

"This is a very sensible and thorough approach. A
two-year transition will ensure that the company has a
smooth transfer of strategy and knowledge from Bill to the
next generation of leaders," said James I. Cash,
Ph.D., member of the Microsoft board of directors and
former James E. Robison Professor, Harvard Business School.
"Steve and his management team are very impressive, and
I'm confident the company will not miss a step."

Ozzie, 50, worked on the first electronic spreadsheet,
VisiCalc, in the early 1980s, then joined Lotus Development
Corp. in 1983 to develop Lotus Symphony, an MS-DOS(R)-based
integrated software management product that combined word
processing, spreadsheet, business graphics, data management
and communications capabilities. In 1984, Ozzie formed Iris
Associates Inc. to develop Lotus Notes. In 1997 Ozzie
founded Groove Networks, where he developed Groove Virtual

telephony products. Mundie also started Microsoft's digital
TV efforts and acquired and managed the WebTV Networks Inc.
subsidiary. Mundie is also the original champion of the
Trustworthy Computing Initiative at Microsoft, which has
influenced Microsoft's software development strategy. His
current responsibilities also include global technology
policy and a variety of technical and business incubation
activities.

Ozzie and Mundie will continue to report to Gates. At
an appropriate time during the two-year transition period,
they will shift to reporting to Ballmer.

friend Paul Allen. He took Microsoft public in 1986 and was
the company's chairman and CEO until 2000, when Ballmer took
over as CEO. For the past six years Gates has focused on
Microsoft's software development as the company's chairman
and chief software architect. In 2000, with his wife, he
formed the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, whose
assets now are $29.1 billion.
