    NUREMBURG, Germany, March 20 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- To
make DaVinci(TM) technology accessible to an ever
increasing base of digital video developers, Texas
Instruments Incorporated (NYSE: TXN) (TI) is releasing a
Software Development Kit (SDK) based on DaVinci technology
for use with the Windows(R) Embedded CE operating system.
This SDK is specifically designed for use with the
TMS320DM6443 and TMS320DM6446 system-on-chip (SoC)
processors based on DaVinci technology. The SDK will
empower developers who prefer the Windows Embedded
operating system to now easily access TI's proven silicon
and software for digital video applications. For more
information, see http://www.ti.com/windowscepr.

"When you choose Windows Embedded, you take
advantage of the latest innovations in a comprehensive
embedded devices platform and integrated development tool,
so you can meet changing customer requirements with more
speed," said Ilya Bukshteyn, director, Windows
Embedded Marketing, Mobile and Embedded Devices Division,
Microsoft Corp. "We are excited to work with TI to
make their DaVinci technology available with the Windows
Embedded CE platform, so developers eager to create
innovative new products can be even more productive."

DaVinci technology and the Windows Embedded CE
development environment are both popular choices for
applications such as set-top boxes, digital media adapters,
voice-over-IP (VoIP) phones, navigation systems and portable
media players. TI's offering for Windows Embedded CE
offering is optimized for TI's TMS320DM6443 and
TMS320DM6446 SoC processors and is fully supported by
select TI Authorized Software Providers (ASPs) and
providers of TI technology for Windows Embedded CE, such as
Mistral Software.

Windows Embedded CE Leverages Familiar Development
Environment

The TI SDK for Windows Embedded CE includes a Windows
Embedded CE board support package (BSP), drivers, OS
adaptation layer, interprocessor communication (IPC) and
DaVinci Codec Engine-based demo. The familiar Windows
Embedded CE DirectShow media framework is layered on the
DaVinci Codec Engine, allowing developers to access
DSP-based performance for video and audio applications
without needing extensive DSP development expertise. To
further speed development, TI also offers a robust
portfolio of eXpressDSP(TM) digital media software,
including the latest audio and video codecs, which can be
obtained through TI ASPs. ASPs and providers of TI
technology for Windows Embedded CE are also equipped to
work directly with developers to provide additional
services, customization and support. An SDK for Windows
Embedded CE 6.0 for the general market is planned for 2Q
2007 and will first be available from Mistral. Other TI
DSP third parties are currently offering complete Windows
CE 6.0 enabled reference solutions, such as the recently
announced Wireless Network Projector reference design by
Ingenient and the videophone reference design by Ittiam,
both based on DaVinci technology.

    Easy Evaluation and Adoption

"The companies we have partnered with to offer
TI's technology for Windows Embedded CE to the market have
extensive expertise with Windows Embedded CE, DaVinci
technology and application-specific designs," said
Brian Jeff, eXpressDSP digital media software marketing
manger, TI. "By distributing an SDK for Windows
Embedded CE to our customers through these channels, we
will ensure a seamless ramp from product inception to
production."

Customers are able to begin working with the SDK for
Windows Embedded CE at no charge, with support and
customization available from select TI ASPs and providers
of TI technology for Windows Embedded CE for a fee.
Mistral, a strategic provider of TI's technology for
Windows Embedded CE, will soon release additional
technology for the full DaVinci software infrastructure so
developers can utilize Windows Embedded CE 6.0, targeted at
a wide array of DaVinci applications in the broad market.

"The performance available from the DaVinci
technology platform has enabled us to develop a WLAN
solution for TI's SDK for use with Windows Embedded CE
6.0," said Samyeer Metrani, VP-Product Development at
Mistral Software. "We are excited about being able to
offer both wireless networking and Wireless Network
Projector capabilities in our upcoming release of Windows
Embedded CE 6.0 for DaVinci technology."

The Network Projector features in Windows Embedded CE
6.0 allow consumers to use the "Connect to a Network
Projector" wizard in Microsoft's Windows Vista(TM)
operating system for PCs. For more information, see
http://www.mistralsoftware.com/davinci.

Additionally, the ASPs supporting TI's SDK for use with
Windows Embedded CE are eInfochips, Inc., MPC Data, Logic
Product Development, eSOL Co. Ltd. and Wintech Digital
Systems Technology Corp. TI's select ASPs and providers of
TI technology for Windows Embedded CE act as a single point
of contact for TI eXpressDSP digital media software and
ongoing support for Windows Embedded CE. ASPs are also able
to provide and support TI eXpressDSP digital media software,
such as H.264 MP, WMA9 decode, and WMV9/VC1 decode. The
simplicity of the evaluation and purchase of optimized
software ensures customers are able to greatly accelerate
their time-to-market and ease of implementation, instead of
having to waste months evaluating and acquiring software
from multiple suppliers.

    Pricing and Availability

The TI SDK for use with Windows Embedded CE 5.0 is
available immediately at a zero cost suggested retail price
from select TI Authorized Software Providers and providers
of TI technology for Windows Embedded CE. The target
platform for the TI SDK for Windows Embedded CE is the
DM644x Digital Video Evaluation Module available from TI
and through distribution channels. A TI solution for
Windows Embedded CE 6.0 will be available in 2Q 2007. For
