Spreadtrum: New TD-SCDMA Core Chip Supporting HSDPA

    BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 13 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- The
first TD-SCDMA core chip (SC8800H), which supports HSDPA
(High Speed Downlink Packet Access) function, has been
recently developed by Spreadtrum Communications in
Shanghai, China.

    With the HSDPA function, SC8800H can support high speed
data download service so that not only the quality of
traditional audio & video multimedia  services can be
highly improved, but also new 3G services as video  phone,
streaming, 5 mega pixel photographing, unlimited recording
time and  POC can be realized.  More over, it provides a
more powerful platform to more services such as mobile
banking, stock transactions on handsets.  With realization
of HSDPA function in TD-SCDMA, users can enjoy more
conveniences brought by mobile services, and also it brings
much more room for TD-SCDMA application.

    SC8800H will be back from the foundry in Feb, 2007. 
Soon after Spreadtrum will work with its manufacturer
partners to develop TD-SCDMA handset with HSDPA function. 
The initial handsets are expected to be ready around mid of
2007.
