March 15, 2007

High-Performance, High-Efficiency SuperBlade Product Line Features Supermicro Server Building Block Architecture for Easy Customization HANNOVER, Germany, March 15 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Super Micro Computer, Inc., a leader in application-optimized, high performance server solutions, today unveiled its SuperBlade product at CEBIT 2007 in Hannover, Germany, Hall 21, Stand A34, Booth A1. Implementing Supermicro's Server Building Block Solutions(TM) architecture, SuperBlades provide versatile configuration options that enable enterprises to optimize for specific applications. Supermicro blade servers utilize high-efficiency, redundant power supplies to ensure energy-efficient operation and reliability. "Our SuperBlade(TM) designs implement the very latest advancements in server technology, making them not only suitable for HPC applications but also ideal for enterprise solutions," asserts Charles Liang, CEO and president of Supermicro. "Taking modular computing to another level, our high-density blades can be optimized for a wide range of applications with exceptional scalability." SuperBlades support quad-core or dual-core processors and feature earth-friendly, high-efficiency power supplies to maximize performance-per-watt and reduce total cost of ownership (TCO). For leading reliability and availability, four high-efficiency, redundant power supplies power each SuperBlade system. Supermicro offers customers the flexibility to choose between 3000W and 7500W high-efficiency power supply depending upon system configurations. The Supermicro 7U blade enclosure on display holds ten blades. It can support up to 40 processors and up to 640GB of memory. Supermicro DP blades support dual hot-plug SAS or SATA hard drives. Customers have the option to choose either 2.5" or 3.5" hard drives. For management and communication, the SuperBlade system comes standard with a chassis management module for IPMI 2.0 remote server management that provides virtual media over LAN and KVM over LAN capabilities. SuperBlade provides high-speed interconnect capability -- Gigabit Ethernet switch or pass-thru module, and 20 Gbps DDR InfiniBand switches. 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch modules are coming soon. SuperBlade is capable of extremely high-bandwidth communication (up to 40Gbps per blade). These solutions can be selected based on specific application requirements to provide seamless networking between systems. In addition to its live SuperBlade demo, Supermicro is also demonstrating a host of other innovative servers at CEBIT. Three different SuperServer demos feature the newly defined Universal I/O(TM) (UIO) architecture for optimized storage and networking flexibility. Another new innovation is a live 1U Twin(TM) server with two DP nodes in a 1U chassis. And for those who want four or five add-on cards, Supermicro's 2U in 1U(TM) server is the ideal solution.
